Born and raised in east Hillsborough County, Rick brings nearly thirty years of experience in the utility industry supporting and driving economic growth across the Tampa Bay region. His leadership plays a key role in advancing Tampa Electric’s strategic efforts and fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders. Rick’s career started in broadband and telecommunications, specializing in utility design and GIS software services. During this time, he worked with industry leaders including AT&T, Comcast, Rogers Cable, Time Warner and Verizon, helping to deliver innovative infrastructure solutions.
In 2013, Rick joined Tampa Electric, where he deepened his expertise in utility infrastructure. He has since held several senior positions within the company, including serving as Senior Project Manager for the expansion of Tampa International Airport—a role that showcased his leadership and project execution capabilities.
Currently, Rick leads Tampa Electric’s economic development initiatives and strategy, working closely with businesses, developers and government entities to promote growth and investment in the region. Rick earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Alabama. He is also an active community and industry leader, serving on the boards of the Pasco EDC and FEDC, as well as the executive committees of Plant City and Winter Haven EDC’s. Tampa Electric, an investor owned electric utility who started business in 1899, serves the eastern part of Polk with 85,000+ customers. Peoples Gas, a natural gas utility that started business in 1895, today has a Lakeland presence with 5800 customers.
