LAKELAND | Michigan-based Gordon Food Service wants to bring one of its hybrid supermarket-restaurant supply stores to Lakeland.
City officials on Monday approved a zoning change that would allow GFS to redevelop the former Lone Star Steakhouse at 3723 U.S. 98 N. into a GFS Marketplace.

It is expected to be open in late June or early July for lunch and dinner. Just in time to drown your sorrows after Tax Day, the new Linksters Taproom at 209 E. Main St. in downtown Lakeland opens Friday, said Tom Elliott, a partner in the tavern with Eric "Bro" Belvin and Rick Kunzle. A new chain is nudging its way into Polk County's dining scene.
