retailers that have closed in recent years - Gap and the Disney Store to name a couple - the mall, 3800 U.S. 98 N., is far from dead.

LAKELAND | Michigan-based Gordon Food Service wants to bring one of its hybrid supermarket-restaurant supply stores to Lakeland.
City officials on Monday approved a zoning change that would allow GFS to redevelop the former Lone Star Steakhouse at 3723 U.S. 98 N. into a GFS Marketplace.

LAKELAND | A local credit union and restaurant are competing for the vacant Federal Building in downtown Lakeland. The historic city-owned building at Tennessee Avenue and Lemon Street is nearly a century old and is coveted by Lakeland-based MidFlorida Credit Union and Arabellas Ristorante of Winter Haven.
