(QMI), an automotive additives manufacturer, plans to add roughly 30 jobs and expand its facilities this year as it combines operations with a sister firm from California. BARTOW | County commissioners voted 4-1 Wednesday to commit $1 million to help build a visitor center at Florida Southern College for its collection of Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings. LAKELAND | For an hour or so, Florida Southern College was the scene of something like a family reunion Friday. As many of the most influential families in Lakeland over the past half-century assembled under a bright, cool sky, there were hugs, handshakes, cries of recognition and lots of picture-taking.

Next up on the restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright structures at Florida Southern College: the only theater-in-the-round the famed architect ever built. The school announced last week it has received a $50,000 grant from the Bureau of Historic Preservation in the Florida Department of State's Division of Historical Resources. The money will be used to repair and restore the Fletcher Theatre, a circular amphitheater in the Lucius Pond Ordway Building.

Pepperidge Farm's Lakeland plant officially cut the ribbon on its new $23 million bread production line Tuesday. The line first started producing bread in mid-June. The several weeks that have passed since is a normal period of time to troubleshoot the machinery, said the Lakeland plant manager, Gary Tarr.

Southeastern University will dedicate its College of Business & Legal Studies and College of Education building this week. The $5.5 million, 32,000-square-foot building includes 16 classrooms, a 130-seat lecture hall and two computer labs. It is the Lakeland university’s first new academic building since 1992, a release said. ButterKrust Bakery, a landmark Lakeland business since 1916, will be sold to Flowers Foods Inc. of Thomasville, Ga., one of the nation's largest producers of packaged baked goods, for about $90 million.
